You mentioned earlier a possible review on EverNote. It looks like a pretty interesting, useful app, and I’d be interested to see a review on it.

Todd, I am extremely happy with the U. It is the most used piece of equipment I think I’ve ever owned. It’s just great. Just be aware that it won’t replace a full sized Tablet because of the small screen size. But it is easy to carry anywhere which is the whole point.

Apologies if you’ve mentioned this elsewhere, but are you still happy with the Tablet PC modified U-70? I really like my Fujitsu Tablet, but I agree with what you said in an earlier comment about not taking a Tablet PC everywhere…

Sorry to rant here is but PalmOS has been able to do this from the start because they have separate numeric and alpha input windows and rely on a special “dot” stroke to input symbols.

I wished M$ “borrowed” Palm’s input methodology in XP Tablet.

FYI… in ritePen there is a “use separate letters mode” setting in the recognizer menu. This will help you write mixed things that don’t appear in the dictionary like “3L33T K1D5.#”… you can also put words like that in the dictionary

This all comes with a word of caution… modern convention independent HWRs like TabletPC or ritePen rely on lexical context to recognize things… I’ll submit that none of them are going to recognize the ‘1′ in K1D5 as a ‘one’ rather than a lowercase ‘el’ unless the lexical context predicts it…

Actually if you use the character pad in the TIP it recognized better and gives you access to the NUM and SYM keys.

Now for the Sony Notebook Setup problem- go here and download everything in the SNS folder. I believe install instructions are there too.

If not there is an excellent FAQ on the Yahoo U70 users group that includes a section on getting the SNS up and running completely in English.

Once you have it running then you can assign a h/w button to the TIP. Are you running the Floating tip hack? This is essential to get the full Tablet experience. It is in the Files section on the Yahoo group.

Any pointers on getting the Sony Notebook Setup orgram installed on XP Tablet 2005 (in English preferrably) and reconfiguring a button to launch the TIP?

Why is it that a Dragonball processor in 1995 running PalmOS could easily do alpha and numeric and symbols, but an Intel M on XP Tablet can’t get it right?

Sorry, couldn’t resist. Numbers are difficult on any HWR platform I’ve tried. The recognition engines are trying so hard to interpret words that numbers just get in the way. On the Tablet OS I usually hit the NUM key on the right side of the TIP and just tap them in. Likewise for the SYM key which makes it very simple to enter symbols.

So far my experience hasn’t been good with writing numbers (especially #1 and #7, Tablet edition keep converting them to l and t), but I know that there is a learning curve for XP Tablet.

Can you give me any insight on writing “3L33T K1d5.#” using any of the 3 modes?

On a Palm, the only trick letter is T but you write it like:

For the “dot”, you write:
. . and the “.” appears

For the #, you write:

. /|/| and the “#” appears
