Sony_dvdirectSony announced a DVD burner that connects directly to a video recorder or VCR for burning video without the need for a computer in the process. The DVDirect is set to sell for about $300 and can burn up to 12 hours of MPEG-2 video on double-layer DVDs or six hours with standard DVD+R OR DVD+RW discs. It accomplishes this with a built-in MPEG-2 encoder in the burner. Max recording speed is 16X.(via News.com)
