Posting scarce for a few days

By James Kendrick | Sunday, November 21, 2004 | 12:28 PM CT | 27 comments |

I will not be making any posts for a few days as my father passed away this morning.  I’m still in shock at the news even though he has led a full life and just turned 88 a couple of weeks ago.  I just didn’t want anyone to wonder why posting stopped for a little while.  Thanks for understanding.

  • I am sorry.

I am a father of three (4,7,8) and am very aware of the close relationship of fathers and their children.

You and your family will be in my prayers.

  • Dear James,
Deep, Deepest Sympathy goes out to you at reading this news, now in the evening, of this saddest of days for you and your family. I gather we are, perhaps near one another in age, as my own father is a month shy of his 88th birthday. I’m his primary care giver, and judging by all myself and your numerous readers here and at other sites have come to learn about you, I know that you must surely have been a fine son to your dad. My abiding respect to you and your family James, at this time.

  • Sorry to hear the news JK., one would hope that I could say something profound and help with the personal pain you must be feeling, but void that ability I send my sincere condolences.

Thank you for writing about our Dad. You did an excellent job. The words you chose fit him perfectly. Our pain right now at times is unbearable. Staying focused is very hard. I know only time will heal the heart. Just don’t know much time it will take. Thank you for all that has taken the time to write in response to JK’s article about our Dad. It does help.

    Dear Dad

You have taught me many things about life.
You taught me how to be an honest, loving and caring man.
You taught me the difference between right and wrong.
You taught me that hard work does pay off.
You taught me to show respect for others.
You taught me how be a man.
You were there when I needed you.
You were there when my family needed you.
I have been blessed in many ways and having you as a dad is one of them.
God could have not picked a better dad for my brother JK, my two sisters and I.
We love you with all my heart.
And miss you so very much.

    Keith, your son

  • JK,

My prayers are with you and your family, and may you all gain strength and a sense of inner peace by being with each other thru this very hard time.

It sounds as if your dad was a very intelligent, loving and caring person. If its any consolation, after quietly ( mostly ;) ) reading you and your thoughts either here, PPCTools, etc., these same good and decent traits do show up in you, your fathers son.

No one can ever take that away from us.

    Take care and God bless.

  • Nothing seems to be easier than seeing someone whom you can help but not helping.
I suggest we start giving it a try. Give love to the ones that need it.
    God will appreciate it.
