I4U has published an overview of Sharp’s latest Linux PDA with a convertible form and based on their impressions I want one!  The Zaurus SL-C3000 is the first PDA with an integrated 4 GB hard drive, a clamshell design that converts to a slate, full Linux compatibility, and did I mention I want one?  Dynamism, Kemplar, anybody, are you listening?

  • jk, you fickle lad! Give up your Sony for this … PDA?!

Next you’ll be extolling something like the VGAed Toshiba PPC. Oh. Wait a minute…

  • Who said I’d have to give up the Sony? :)

  • I considered the thought of giving up my U70 for this… Battery life, power-up time, flexibility of Linux, may be the middle ground that I’m looking for. Whatever happened to that Phoenix/whatever-BIOS-Outlook-fast-bootup-thingamajiggy?

  • The Phoenix s/w requires a keyboard to be attached to invoke it which minimizes its usefulness on the U. I can’t even get it to work with a USB keyboard w/o an error anyway. Phoenix tech support called me to try and get it working but I haven’t had time to call them back.

Interestingly enough, when it errors out it generates Linux kernel errors so its actually running in Linux.
