Configuring is not so clear for me!
There a lot of square in place of characters in the interface to configure Wifi.
Is there a place with a step by step tutorial?

Just got the new SC-3000 and I’ve heard that it is possible to Sync with Outlook in W2K though I have yet to find the steps or a document that explains it. Anyone have any ideas?

It’s a bit silly to bring up the UX50 — that “T EARLY-ADOPTERS *** YOU KTHXBYE SONY” device gave me so many problems: deafening screen whine, are-we-still-on-mains?-oops-guess-not-bye memory crashes, and then repeated, mostly-inexplicable crashes apparently to do with the m68k emulation and my pleco.com dictionary. I paid nearly 600 USD for a device which went completely haywire in a few months, from a company that doesn’t give a damn.

Even my developer’s edition SL-5000D has always worked perfectly.

I bought a 700 a monthbefore the 760 was announced.
I bought a 760 then. Later I also purchased a 5600.
I prefer the clamshell layout and design.

With standard 760/860(3000/etc) and Qtopia, you can load
EVERY application that comes pre-installed on the device — into ram… instant off, instant on, all apps in RAM. It’s really nice.
However, I prefer to run full/straight linux and X.

The screen is beutiful, sharp and bright. The clamshell keyboard is easy to use, even in the dark — and you can get 40+WPM, etc.

quake, doom (at the same time, etc — see screenshot) … emacs, firefox, thunderbird, emacs, gimp… gcc/g++/perl/python, ssh, irc/im, games, etc.

While the drivers may not be available yet, you will be able to use wireless cellular for this device. The Zaurus 860, which I have, which is the predecessor of this, supports many wireless cellular options.
I can buy a socket digital phone card, which plugs into my cell phone with a cable, and connect to the internet(there is a socket dig phone card for many types of cell phones).
I can use a socket bluetooth card, and use any cell phone that has bluetooth to connect to the internet – that includes verizon – cdma, and cingular and tmobile – gsm.
I can also buy an audiovox rtm8000 and use it as a cell phone directly with any gsm provider. The rtm8000 is the only one I haven’t personally used. The rtm8000 is also the only one that I know of that you could actually use it as a real cell phone to make voice calls.

A few answers:

I ran the Sharp pretty heavy and it always lasted all day. I felt the battery was no worse than any other PDA. It didn’t seem like the HDD was that big a factor on the battery life.

There are no wireless cards (GSM or CDMA) that work on the Sharp that I am aware of.

Don’t know about dropping it and the HDD. Dynamism would not be too happy with me it I ran that test.

In march will come new Zaurus with wireless but only for japan yet

Good review thanks. Can I second the request for more specific info on battery life. I had an early model zaurus which was beautiful but the battery life was so poor that it was unusable as a PDA. The experience has put me off the line – even though I’m still absurdly excited by the idea of have a linux device in my pocket.

What about if you drop the thing?

I’ve used PDAs for years and they get dropped all the time even by careful users. Will the HDD break like the iPod’s do?

Are there any wireless ( cell providers) that will work with this unit.
