Thanks for sharing this fabulous article. One can learn a lot from it. Yeah, I know the burden of running a home office. One has to be disciplined and work organized and structured in order to overcome all these disturbances and disruptions. I use Outlook to download my emails from my various online accounts and thus I have the advantage that I can use the add-in Email Sorter Wizard that helps me to organize my email inbox too. One can define rules fast and with ease to make Email Sorter Wizard sort and file incoming and outgoing emails. Great post and I am sure every reader enjoyed reading it.

I have tried OMM for a couple of days now. It sounded promising but it just doesn't work right. It wants me to classify every email as "urgent" or "not urgent". But all that does is move it to a "learning" folder, which uses up server disk space. And if I delete an email then magically a duplicate of each email pops up in the "Deleted Items" folder, also costing disk space. In addition, that duplicate is marked as "unread", which is very irritating.

I was hoping OMM would run quietly in the background and do its job, but it just gets in the way too much. I can't understand how Microsoft could call something like this "research". This was probably written by an intern over the summer. There is nothing really ground-breaking about it.

On the issue discussed above (valid profile message), there is a system requirement for OMM that some people are running into: OMM is a MAPI-enabled application and requires an Outlook client AND an Exchange server. This system will NOT work with an Outlook client connecting to a non Exchange server. We are looking into the ability to use non Exchange servers with OMM.

We have put up a System Requirements \ FAQ on the OMM download site: http://research.microsoft.com/adapt/omm/

Thanks
Darren (OMM Test)

I just installed OMM, and am receiving the same 'valid profile' message as Phil. I think it's referring to an Outlook Profile; I only have one, but it does not appear in the box. Any thoughts?

I did not have any profile configuration upon installation. The OMM menu bar has two options for marking Urgent or Non-urgent, but no visible means to enter mobile device information.

Still an R&D project. Not even Beta yet.

Hi,

Have you been able to get it to work? It asks me to choose a 'valid' profile when starting up (along with phone number etc.). I'm the only one using the computer, not sure what profile it is referring to or how to get it to work.
