Opera is free, forever

The one day free Opera promotion a few weeks ago was so successful the company has released it for free.  The program now has all ads and banners removed from the browser and can be downloaded from the Opera site.  How are they going to make their money?  Premium support is available.

  • Heh. The reason they got so many downloads Id wager is because of the “one day only” thing they did, combined with heavy marketing. I bet half the people just downloaded it and saved it, never even bothering to install it.

Still, free is good, and more power to them if they think this will work. :D

  • I’m trying to use the new Opera as my default browser – having switched from Firefox – and so far so good.

There are a few missing items (such as middle clicking on a folder of bookmarks to open them all), but Opera out of the box is much more complete than Firefox without all the extensions.
