Microsoft Money 2007 loses Pocket PC support

Microsoft Money users who sync your financial information with your Pocket PC better hold off upgrading to the newly released Money 2007.  It seems Microsoft dropped the ability to sync with any Pocket PC with the latest version.  Your existing Money for Pocket PC only works with versions prior to Windows Mobile 5 so if you were hoping for an upgraded version with Money 2007 you’re just out of luck.  It’s kind of like losing WiFi sync with ActiveSync 4.x, isn’t it?

  • On their support forum, Ultrasoft has already stated that they are working on a version of their Money package for Palm OS that will synchronize with MS Money 2007. In past years, it typically has only taken 3-4 weeks (or less) after MS releases their new version before they have gotten the new version out.

Maybe a third-party will come through and provide that feature for Windows Mobile folks, but I find it ironic that we might once again have a case where Palm OS users will have better synchronization options with a Microsoft product…

  • Does this just effect the Money mobile software they do/did provide for PPC users, or will this not work with third party tools like SPB Finance?

  • Just saw that SPB has a new Finance beta out that will sync with Money 2007

  • Ultrasoft make the most user friendly and solid MS Money handling software. I found it hard to go from Palm to Pocket PC as I knew I’d be losing Ultrasoft’s terrific software in the process. But if they release a Pocket PC that not only supports Money 2007 (which will no doubt be a US only release) but also helps out previous version owners then I’m in!

  • Where did you see a beta of Spb Finance that works with Money 2007? I just paid for an upgrade of Spb Finance, only to discover it doesn’t work with it.

  • ok….how do I dumb down my money 2007 back to 2006 so I can use my pocket pc to track my stuff while on the road….

I’ve been using money with pocket pc for several years and it has become a normal and convenient method for me. It’s a big disappointment that this capability will no longer be supported.

  • If M$ keeps dropping good features from their products they are going to start losing their profit from good customers moving to other vendors more useful apps.
