LogMeIn buys Hamachi

LogolmiThis headline almost had Chow Mien and Tamagatchi in it, but that would have been messy for those li’l digital varmints that are mostly extinct. Instead, the real news is that LogMeIn has purchased Hamachi. LogMeIn is already a great mobile connectivity product that allows secure remote access to and control of computers. Hamachi is similar, but it’s actually a mediated peer-to-peer solution that will pair nicely with LogMeIn. It’s like combining chocolate with peanut butter only you don’t get Reese’s, you get the potential for VPN-secure peer-to-peer remote connectivity.

  • Very cool news. I’ve used logmein for a while and coincidentally just started to use hamachi about 3 weeks ago. I’m optimistic based solely on the fact that they said it’s staying free

  • Good news but does it have anything to do with today’s inability to access the logmein site?
