So what’s up with cPC now? LoL

Just to give Ciccone (http://davidciccone.com/2006/12/10/dualcor-assumptions) the benefit of the doubt, I reread this article to see if anything you said seemed unwarranted or unfair. If you took a stab as Dave accuses you of doing, you took a stab at Howe, who deserved every slash he got. I had been dying for someone to state the obvious on DualCor as you finally did, and what do you know, over a month later we still know nothing more, and CES will pass next month and still nothing I’m sure. To Ciccone’s credit he got off the train before it wrecked too, and I understand him feeling the need to stand up for what are likely a brilliant and dedicated set of engineers trying to make XP and WM play nicely together in a challenging form factor. But I don’t think you intended to satirize their efforts, and like me (and Ciconne) are dying for them to figure it out and get the device to market. The efforts of those who have been leading DualCor and representing them in market were begging to be satirized, however. Thank you for having the courage to do it because I know you thought long and hard before you posted this. It needed to be done period, potential hurt feelings or not.

I second the “thank you for agreeing with me” comment. I have aired my frustration on several blogs and each time have been criticized for doing so. It’s good to have someone of your respectability in “our” court.

I’m glad someone else agreed with me. The part where I was totally lost and became anti dualcor was when:

1. They took out the main features of a mobile device (WiFi, BT, Cellular)
2. Raised the price
3. Extended the shipping date

Not to mention, these three events took place DAYS from each other. As a consumer, I want nothing to do with a company that does something like that.

The only buzz the dualcor is getting is BAD buzz.

While I think the cPc is a great toy for a mobile geek, there was never anything really compelling about it to the enterprise or average consumer market. Enterprise customers usually either want simple and cheap, ie WinCE, for tasks like data collection, or they want full computers, WinXP. And the price point for the consumer market is just crazy.

Btw, is the cPc ver 2 gonna run Vista? Cause I’m sure Vista will be out for a while before DualCor gets a production unit out the door, if they ever do. I have a pretty strong feeling that the cPc is going to fade into gadget history, an interesting idea that never really happened.

My thoughts exactly. My JasJar seems to handle three radios in a smaller case, so maybe they need some new engineers at DualCor.

I was super excited about the cPC when it was first announced, but quickly lost interest as the months wore on. When Judie posted her mini-review of the engineering sample she purchased I got interested again, but the interest was short lived. And now I have a Q1 with an extended battery, and honestly have no desire to even look back at the cPC. It’s too big for a pocket anyway, so I might as well just carry the Q1.

Strange how they are having all of these radio problems working inside the case of the cpc… maybe I should let them borrow my xv6700, which somehow performed this magical feat…. i’m really disappointed about this, as I was really fired up about the cpc.
