Sheila, the trick is to rest your hand on the bezel of the Q1 when writing on the screen.

One question – how are you writing in One Note without making the jagged lines or do you somehow not touch the screen? I had a bigger tablet PC this will replace in hopes I use it more, but I am having trouble using it similar to how you are because I keep making blotches when I try to handwrite anything!

Jose – Onfolio is now included with the Windows Live toolbar. If you download the toolbar, you get Onfolio. It’s the only way to get it now.

Hi James, thanks for running this nice blog. I do like the Samsung Q1 device and I will probably buy one (although not the SSD version) this christmas. I have question for you though. Have you considered using your Q1 as a GPS (with external gps receiver) instead of your TomTom? If it works, you would have one less device to carry around and recharge!

Thanks James, I always look forward to reading your “Day in the Life of” series. Please keep them coming. It makes me want an UMPC even more as I am still doing your thing with a PocketPc and my tablet. Of course I use my tablet as much as I can during the day but the PPC works out just dandy in a pinch.

Hi James: Nice writeup… one question I have for you is how do you compare this setup with doing exactly the same thing (PPS etc) but with a TC1100. I mean, the processor in the TC1100 is a bit faster (?) and the battery life a bit better (another ?). The issue is whether these two factors are outweighed by the lesser weight of the Q1 (no pun intended).

BTW, I have tried to download OnFolio but it seems it is not downloadable by now (I get an error on Windows Live)

What else can I say??

I bought that Samsung Power Bank, which I use in a similar way to your Battery Geek Powerstation. The Power Bank is a 9 cell battery. I don’t get 18 hours from it, but I keep it in my gear bag and plug my Q1 in it when I’m on the way to meetings. It does the job and is smaller and lighter than the Battery Geek battery. It’s about the size of my portable CD-R drive. I really enjoyed the post JK. I am teaching this week and the Q1 has been a dream to travel with. I brought it to Denver and then to Houston. I ran all my powerpoint slides for class on the Q1 using the presenter view and using the projector as an extended monitor. It was great and everyone marveled at my tiny tablet computer.

It’s really interesting to read these posts JK. I’ve found it especially interesting to compare your three posts on this and how far mobiletech has come over the last couple of years.

I too have followed a similar path to you, from PocketPC to UMPC in the form of Quazy, my Samsung Q1. I now can’t see how I can work without him at my side.

However one thing is clear… I need to stop looking on ebay for a second AC charger and I need to get me one of those battery packs!! Anyone know where I can get one in the UK and what tip the Q1 needs?
