Hmm…I would love to read your account on how the install went on your Q1, but I can tell that your buddy JK is already waffling on the Q1 and it won’t be long before you fall in love with another device too. Of course, your next device might come with Vista so it’s not like it’s the LAST copy of Vista you’ll ever own! Go crazy!!!!

Probably the Q1, as the tablet experience is so rich (I’m back on rc2 on my m200), the media center a close second (I couldn’t get it to install the tv tuner cards, which made it all a bit pointless!)

Two points thought…
1 You have 14 days to test before activation (install it on a spare hd on the mce for guilt free testing)

2 Ms have confimed the right to transfer the licence up to 10 times, so you can spread the joy.

I installed it yesterday in a partition on my MacBook Pro. Seems to be working okay.

I would install it on the desktop. On a full powered machine is where Vista really shines, especially with the media features of Ultimate.

Kevin… because you have an Ultimate version, I would install it on the desktop (assuming it’s the most powerful and feature-rich PC you have). You can always buy an upgrade for your other devices later, and then you wouldn’t need the full-blown version.

I also have the full version now but after my disasterous experience with Beta2 on the Q1 I’m going to wait for the drivers before trying again. Of course if you try it on the Q1 and it works without too much manual intervention, I may be tempted to try it again.

Jethris makes a good point if you have an extra hard drive laying around. Is the Q1 drive easily accessible?

On the desktop for now and when you get to where you can’t live without it, revision 1 should be out and you can have a smoother ride with the Q1.

If the Q1 were my main machine I’d not want to take any half measures.

As always in the end it’s your decision.

I would put it on the computer you use the most. It would be between Sammy and the Q1.

Me, I’d buy another drive for whatever machine you’re going to install it on, then go full bore with a brand new, fresh install. I wouldn’t partition (not enough space with sammy), but get a nice, clean install.

You’re gutsy! I won’t install it on my Q1 until after the first service pack. But since you probably have resources and patience that far exceeds mine, I’d probably go single vista partition. Though Dave Zatz makes a fine point also!

I’d definitely partition, at least for awhile to make sure you’re satisfied with its performance and stability. Take frequent images and if things are looking good after a few weeks blow away the XP partition and use something like Partition Magic to reclaim that space. If you want to revert, blow away the Vista partition and reclaim space with XP.

Does your Vista edition have the MCE capability? If so that’s the machine I’d choose but I have a bias.

I’d put it on my desktop since it’s my MCE machine.
I’ll wait to put Vista on my Q1 if/when Samsung releases official drivers/software for it.

I like to play hard. I’m getting a copy by the end of next week and my target going to be the Q1, upgrading it (I’m getting the business upgrade).
