Looks like it only works when a user is logging off, so no on the standby.

…is it really worth having a process running ALL THE TIME to speed up shutdowns? I normally shut down the computer then shut the lid, or walk away (for a desktop).

Plus, I don’t know about you, but I hardly ever shut down my P1510, LE1600, etc.. Standby is the main usage. Reboot occasionally, sure (every few days at the most), but I’d rather not have something that “runs all the time” to speed up a shutdown that only happens every few days and I usually walk away from.

I watched the slow shut down and start up of the Fujitsu P1610 with fascination too – and wondered whether you had the Hive cleanup service installed. I currently have the Lifebook T4010 and P7010 and had to install it on both machines. There are a couple of additional registry tweaks too: you can enable AutoEndTasks; you can also reduce the values for HungAppTimeout, WaitToKillAppTimeout and WaitToKillServiceTimeout. Great video by the way. It was interesing to see not only an informative review but a pleasure to witness your obvious and barely concealed enthusiasm for the P1610. There are too many slick presentations on the web that leave me cold. And however much I admire you guys on JKontherun for your humour and expertise, I think I’m on safe ground when I say that no one can accuse you of being “slick” . Happy Thanksgiving fom the UK.
