Owning both a Q1 and a P1510D, I can see why James and Rob choose the P1610. I know everybody says that keyboards are not needed all the time, but having it there, in such a small package is so worth it.

Plus the 8.9 inch screen, in my opinion, is much better to use then a 7 inch screen. Again, my opinion.

But I would not a tablet screen ever to be any bigger the 10.6 inches.

I use a MacBook Pro at home most of the time and am getting a new laptop at work, unfortunately not a Tablet PC, and having 3 mobile computers (not counting the 2 desktops I have setup at home for my family) is just too much jumping around and that makes me less productive and forces me to leave one or two devices sitting idle too much.

My Samsung Q1 is in MINT condition and has the 1GB RAM upgrade. If someone here is interested in it and emails me at palmsoloATgmailDOTcom and mentions they saw the note here on jkOnTheRun then I’ll know another $25 off the price for a total of US$850. I bought my Q1 from Dynamism and the 1 year warranty is good until mid-June 2007.

I have to admit I am not 100% sure I can give up my Q1 yet though. I was all hyped to sell it since it is tough to balance so many devices, but dang it sure is a nice device and I really like the Tablet PC OS. Also, unlike James and the P1610 I don’t have a compelling device hanging over my head that I have to pay for with the funds I get from selling the device.

Sad to hear you had to sell the Q1, but I can understand it if you have to finance the P1610. I’d love to get my hand on that SSD version but for now I am awating a Q1 Pentium. Still think that the price of UMPCs shouldnt go too far above $1000 for it to be a good investment. Considering that you have paid over $3000 for your total package it sure is an expensive portable that probably wouldnt be used as much now that you have the P1610.

I have the Q1 from a past woot.com deal (celeron, small drive for $750) and the lack of palm rejection is killing me. I love the device though. My heavy use of Bluetooth has made the lack of a PC Card a non-issue. Just get a cheap bluetooth cellphone and activate it for data, instead of a more expensive data card. Then you can still talk on the phone and not drain it’s batteries. The speed is a bit slower, but works fine. I also carry a Mac Airport express to create a WiFi network anywhere I need one (no additional power adapter so it’s easy to carry around).

Actually Steve, the killer feature is truly the PC Card slot. I have been really enjoying using my EV-DO card on the run. It has made a significant difference. I must say the Q1 is quite a bit faster than the 1610 in most things.

Tough choices sometimes but agreat dilemma to be stuck with, no?

I saw it on your face in the video, I saw it on Rob’s face over on his video review at GottaBeMobile, and I can see that in the right context, the larger screen, higher res, and keyboard (plus a lot of nice features) make that Fujitsu a killer machine. It may be my next machine, too, but nuts for my Q1.

I thought the slate mongers were all wrong, but I do more with the Q1 than I thought possible, and it fits neatly into my man-purse, which I got big enough to carry a paperback, but not big enough to carry a notebook (because I fill whatever I have, and needed to put an upper limit on what I’ll go around town with).

I think if someone will write a driver for the Q1 to have palm rejection, it would be perfect, albeit as long as I have a desktop at work and another laptop for home. In truth, if I only had a the flat screen and keyboard at work, that would be sufficient as I got the 60 gig drive and Pentium M.

The size/functionality ratio is too fantastic for me to let my Q1 go yet, even for that beautiful res on the Fujitsu and palm rejection. Enjoy your new toy, and maybe I’ll be following you further down the road.

BTW, I bet the SSD makes that Q1 the absolute fastest in that size, period. Not that I spend too much time waiting for my hard drive. Seems like I spend less time waiting for the Q1 than my Toshiba M400, with the 2 Ghz Core Duo, two gigs of ram, and the 7200 rpm hdd. Sheesh!

Hello. I’ll buy the Q1 SSD for $2000 if it’s still available. I already have the non SSD Q1 and I like it so much I want to get another one. How do I proceed with the transaction?

Well, it had to happen one of these days. I think many of us could see this coming as we mentioned in prior comments. It just seems the fujitsu offers an awful lot of great features for the money. One quick question, why choose the fujitsu over a slate computer like the small one from Motion LS 800 (I think). I was actually just in two local computer stores and was finally able to put my hands on the Q1 and the Fujitsu. They will have the Asus in next week so I can see them all. While I really wanted to stay with the smaller platform of the Q1 or Asus I looked at the Fujitsu and it seems to offer more, I just dont really see the need for the keyboard when I have the stowaway??

How about this: why don’t you customize it somehow — you know, make it into a “jkOTR version” (sort of like the U2 iPod) — and then auction it off? You might get more. Of course, if the rest of your readers are as cheap as I am…well, never mind.
