This is typical of MSM "reviews". You will rarely see us assign ratings to a device here on jkOnTheRun because they are totally subjective. Our mantra here is that everyone's needs are different when it comes to mobile technology and a device with a killer feature for some may be totally unnecessary for others. I especially dislike articles like this that review multiple devices and rate them as the ratings end up as a ranking system which is totally inappropriate in my opinion.

I get dismayed when articles like this do not point out that the Tablet Edition is a superset of Windows XP and thus the Sony UX should be penalized for not coming with them. Why would you not consider it a negative when other devices have this additional functionality yet the Sony UX doesn't have it?

that is so not a good review of the UMPC's. not even reviewed for their usuage models but instead for a usage model of a laptop.

Wired is an awesome magazine, however I've noticed that many of their reviews are really whack and seem to come from a lack of knowledge about the kind of gadgets that they are reviewing. They should probably stick to what they are good at

The last three are just bizarre (deserving better grades), but the UX180P (the only one I have hands-on experience with) I'd rate at a 7 with a tentative 7.5 for the UX280P's RAM upgrade.
