Woot has the Q1 UMPC for $749 again
I’d hurry if you want a refurbished Samsung Q1 UMPC; they’re at Woot! again for $749. This is the 900 MHz Celeron based unit with 512 MB of RAM (easily upgradable). Thanks to Gabriel and Bob for the heads up.
This raises an interesting question because there’s one difference from the last time Woot! offered the Q1: Vista is out. Granted, there are no Vista drivers for the Q1 just yet but we’re pretty sure to see a Vista-based Samsung Q1 soon. Hmmm….will these sell out as fast this time at the same price?

I can’t help but wonder if maybe there’s some sort of market research going on here. Part of the reason the ‘general public’ (aka journalists who aren’t mobile geeks) think UMPCs are a poor idea is because they’re expensive. “If it was cheaper, I’d buy it!” While that’s pretty much true of everything (if 50″ plasma tv’s were 300 dollars, I’d buy one of those too)…..
I can’t help but wonder if this is someone seeing if people will really buy a UMPC if it’s 750 instead of 1000 dollars.

Hey Kevin how’s Sammy coming along. Any word on what they have fixed? Kevin now that you have the Q1P and had the Q1 is there a big difference on the speed? Hopefully they release the 132GB SSD drives soon at a reseanable price…
I bought one of these during the WooT off. I have not received it yet, but have read alot of bad things about them. Some goods things too though. Mine will be given to one of my employees to test its funcionality when doing service estimates, and printing invoices in the field.
I have a question: how can you hook up GPS to this bad boy? That is something a field manager would really need.
