Canon PIXMA iP90v photo printer: good for on the go

Ip90v_openCanon’s new PIXMA iP90v printer looks small enough to put in a large gear bag for a reasonable MSRP of $249.99. A few add-ons make it even more mobile: a user-installable Bluetooth module costs around $80, while for $99 more, you can add Canon’s Portable Kit, which includes a Lithium Ion battery good for 450 prints on a two hour charge.

The PIXMA iP90v is in the photo-printer class with a maximum print resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi and handles print sizes of 4 x 6, 5 x 7 and 8.5 x 11-inches. Expect a lab quality 4 x 6-inch pic to print out in under a minute-and-a-half. Supported drivers from Canon handle all Windows versions from 98 up to Vista as well as Mac OS X. I’d love to see a built-in card reader to remove a computer from the equation and use this with a high-end cameraphone; maybe next time around?
