True or Not the stereotype is a 3″ and a stigma that in my opinion has been holding further development of useful software for these units. UMPSs are finally filling this gap. To be completely “TRUE” when talking about large screens units such as HP Jornada720 and NEC were developed with even larger screens, but who needed them 10 years ago when even the cellphones were looked at as a something of a novelty.
Things are different today with the amount of blogging, email, messaging, podcastw, webcasts, whatnotcasts…
having such units actually makes sense today.

That’s not completely true montevale. There have been 4 inch screens before on Pocket PCs but no other PPCPE or Windows mobile device has had this many features and a truly humungeous screen.

I have to wait before I can try out this device. The money’s just not right yet. I’ll try to get one in May if they’re off of pre-release. This thing is my dream device. And I’ve had a lot of devices.

Will I give up my UMPC? No. I think this will be a great companion to my Q1. I may have to sell a laptop or something to get one though.

JK I think you are way to harsh on this device and $1500 is not a true price either. Sure you can do more on Q1 but Athena is way smaller and the battery will last longer. This will actually fit in my suit’s pocket and I doubt that the reset will take longer then a reboot of q1.
There are so many models of UMPSs now and this is the only model of windows mobiles that breaks the stereotype of 3″ screen.

As has been pointed out, the subsidized price of $400 euro ($535 USD) is actually an incredibly good deal, not a US carrier is likely to offer this device, but at least you can then have a clean discussion about the merits of the device.

I use a BT headset. Not tried it to my ear, not going to either.

I haven’t written my review yet, but I recently had an opportunity to review the TabletKiosk eo. Ultimately, the lack of WWAN was just a killer for me – the combination of EVDO on my M200 Tablet (the eo doesn’t have a PCMCIA slot) and my blackberry offered more.

Im using a pepperpad right now. If it was sold in the same way as a mobile phone it would cost about $250. Possibly less.
