Guys,
Check out this posting from Boy Genius. This pretty much says it all. They are having problems with their modems. http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2007/04/20/problems-in-oqo-land/#more-571

Then again, I told you so 2 weeks ago. I also sent a private email to David Ciccone and James about the delays to stop the debate among the two. But I think it was David who kept pressing the issue. David, the best thing for your to do is apologize to James and all the folks you swore didn't know what they were talking. Since you had information from a OQO marketing guy, I guess you considered it reliable; as I said, why in the world would you ever trust a marketing guy about a product he is promoting...lol

I was told by Dynamism that there is a delay in shipping OQOs with WWAN because they found a problem with their software. Has anyone else been told this?

Tegatech and Expansys (Australian resellers) are still waiting for theirs...based on the photos though, I think that the OQO series certainly look the goods :)

I just called OQO about my order placed February 26th...Best config, XP Pro, no EVDO module. I was told to expect shipment mid-May, and I was also told that they have already sent out units to people who have pre-ordered. I told them that there is no mention of this on the blogs, and they said that maybe those who got them don't read the blogs. I got a chuckle out of that one.

Not holding my breath,

Okay, guys. Lets at least give it up to David Ciccone for providing some good information on where I could get an OQO. I purchased one from RCS and was able to cancel the original purchase from OQO. The device is HOT!!! My new favorite thing (until of course...the next new thing!) I spoke with a guy from RCS.. it so happens we know some of the same people being that I just moved from the Tri-State area last March. Anyway, he said that they were among the first to get a bunch because they worked closely with OQO in launching and making the product available for viewing and demo with customers at their store in New York. Based on what I know about the store, I have every reason to believe him. But this also backs up the fact that OQO like all major handheld, laptop, and cellphone vendors always ship initial batches out to resellers. Most of them have already put in their requests long before an official announcements goes out. Vendors like OQO do this for obvious reasons; I just wish that they would be straight with customers and commit to dates.

I can say the device was well worth the wait!

Okay. This is silly. David what is really with you? Unlike yourself I am a real customer. I don't do reviews or push products. I am sure your order came either after mine or you have one queued up before the official announcement. Who do you think you are kidding. You and Boy Genius and other sites like yours will always jump ahead of the pack because it is good PR for OQO. Hell Just Blaze had one long before anyone else. As I stated earlier; I ordered mine hours after the official announcement and haven't got mine yet. So, If I ordered mine on the first day and still haven't received them they are not fulfilling real customer (those without connections like Boy Genius) orders. David you are really killing yourself and any potential customer. For some reason I just get the feeling you just have to always be right.

David, last comment on this silly subject. The report stated that OQO was quoting a delay to customers. They are still doing so, whether some units are shipping or not. Give it up, it's getting tedious.

Awesome! One down and all the rest to go. Seriously, I hope for the sake of all those who ordered the OQO that they will get their devices soon. It's great that Boy Genius got his OQO, of course if I recall correctly he also had a prototype which he reviewed so he's probably not your ordinary OQO customer. David, I didn't put your phone # on the comment thread, you sent a derogatory email to a reader here who took umbrage at that and posted your email. I don't know why you're so concerned about this post that had nothing to do with you whatsoever but you decided to make a personal crusade out of it for some reason. Let it go, man. FWIW, customers are still being told that there's a delay with fulfilling their order so the original post still stands.

I second that Michael. I just called OQO and they told me that my 1/8/07 order could be expected to be shipped in the next one to two weeks. That will put delivery outside of the eight to twelve weeks that I was originally promised. Oh well, I will just continue to wait. However, a little more straight talk from OQO would make this easy to take.

It is inetresting how David Ciccone and the others who take the words of management on these things. Of course they will spin this and make it something it is not. The OQO 02 was announced 1/7/06. I ordered my OQO 02 about an hour after it was announced. I just got off the phone with OQO customer care (literally) 5 minutes ago. I rovided my WZ number for a staus and here is what the customer agent told me.

They haven't shipped many orders. Less than 100.
They did experience some unknown and unexpected delays from their vendor that was not in their control
They expected shipments to go out in about 2 weeks

Being a IT Director and a person who has run call centers, I would tend to trust the customer care rep, because they usually are straight and aren't trained to give you the management spin. If I were Bob Rosin, Senior VP of Marketing, I would have given David the same answer. Why? They are still trying to sell more devices and they don't want it to appear to potential or future buyers that they can not fulfill orders. Add in the competition now from Flipstart and you can see why the OQO VP said what he said..

David, you are wrong my friend and Bob said 4-6 weeks to be safe.

They haven’t shipped many orders. Less than 100.
They did experience some unknown and unexpected delays from their vendor that was not in their control
They expected shipments to go out in about 2 weeks

Being a IT Director and a person who has run call centers, I would tend to trust the customer care rep, because they usually are straight and aren’t trained to give you the management spin. If I were Bob Rosin, Senior VP of Marketing, I would have given David the same answer. Why? They are still trying to sell more devices and they don’t want it to appear to potential or future buyers that they can not fulfill orders. Add in the competition now from Flipstart and you can see why the OQO VP said what he said..

David, you are wrong my friend and Bob said 4-6 weeks to be safe.

If every site was punished for misinformation, the internet wouldn't exist. I'm sorry Dave seems to feel he's "superior." It's obvious he isn't by the way he seems to get a kick out of "dissing" other sites. I myself made a comment on his post about why he attacked JKontherun, and of course he deleted that comment. He also deleted three more where I was asking why he was deleting my comments.

He just lost a reader forever! If he thinks he can control the world by censoring and clicking the "delete" button, then there seems to be no point in wasting my time on his worthless words.

Thank you James and Kevin for providing great content and being good to your community.

I've ordered an OQO 2 and have been waiting and waiting and waiting. If they're shipping, who's getting them? Certainly not anyone on the forums I read, and certainly not me!

The FlipStart I have been evaluating has been returned to Vulcan, once again misinformation is being spread for no reason. ABartlett, I apologize that you were emailed directly, nothing I can do about that unfortunately.
