Q1_vistaA few short months ago, I bought Samantha, my Samsung Q1P, for $1,299. She came with XP Tablet Edition 2005 pre-loaded but today, her Vista siblings can be had for $100 less. An eagle-eyed reader tipped us last night that Best Buy shows the Q1P with Vista for $1,199 right now. I just verified on-line and the site shows that they’re in stock. I’m not sure how this compares with the other ‘usual suspects’, i.e. Fry’s, CDW and such, but that’s not a bad deal. Thanks for the tip, Mitchell!

Given the recent announcements of the Q1P Ultra and HTC Shift, is there still interest in the Q1P with Vista? Bear in mind, we don’t yet have firm prices on either of these units.

  • I’m confused now. I thought there would not be any drivers for Vista on the q1 and now there is a q1 with vista preinstalled. I’ve been waiting patiently. But at this point I’m just thinking of going back to XP for the number one reason…batt life!!!

  • The Q1p comes with a Intel Pentium M processor 1.0GHz processor speed as well as 1GB RAM pre-installed. The original Q1 has the Intel Celeron M processor 900MHz processor speed and 512MB of RAM pre-installed. I believe it’s the new hardware which allows Vista to run on the Q1p.

  • If you have a Best Buy close you can order at the store and save the shipping cost. I may give in to temptation if my car repair isn’t too much. Now to decide if I want to get the keyboard & case.

  • I must do Money Dance and invoke the Money Gods to have $1200 rain down on me.

    No you can’t watch.

I have to get nekkid for this dance.

And you’d only run away in horror!

  • The money gods do not smile on me either Mike Cane. I’d love to get one now but sometimes you just have to go outside.

@Mike-When the original Q1 came out expansys bundled the organizer case and keyboard with it. I just hope BestBuy learned something seeing that. I have several stores nearby and would love to save on shipping.

  • CompUSA does bundle organizer case and keyboard, too bad it’s not the Q1P.
