It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a….Windows CE tablet?!?
OK, it’s not a bird or a plane, but it might fly if you throw it like a Frisbee. Akihabara News spotlights the Panasonic ToughBook CF-08, which appears to be a rugged, 10.4-inch touchscreen slate Tablet. Only it isn’t, exactly. The CF-08 runs Windows CE on 312 MHz XScale mobile CPU. That means you won’t have the full complement of Windows applications and it also means that the HTC Ameo has more horses under the hood as a Windows Mobile device. Still, for specific vertical markets with the right software support, the CF08 could be a lower-cost alternative to a full-blown Tablet.
