Hp_dx2020HP and Via have announced the release of the dx2020 in China that is powered by the Via C-7D desktop processor.  The Via C-7 processor has mostly been used in mobile PCs to date and this is the first desktop PC I am aware of to ship with the low voltage processor from Via.  The dx2020 has the following specs:

  • Processor:            1.5GHz VIA C7-D Desktop Processor
  • Chipset:                VIA CN700 Digital Media Chipset
  • Graphics:               VIA UniChrome Pro II integrated graphics processor
  • Memory:               Up to 1GB of DDR2 533 SDRAM
  • Hard Drive:            7200rpm Serial ATA up to 160GB, up to 3GB/s data transfer
  • USB2.0:                6 ports (2 at the front)
  • Networking:          Fast Ethernet 10/100Mbps Broadband LAN
  • Dimensions:          36.7 x 17.5 x 42cm

  • Only fast Ethernet? Come on, most corporate environments have gigabit now. Voip is really pushing companies to upgrade their networks. In my mind a business class machine needs gigabit. I want the Via processors to catch on, I would just hate to see something like that simple hold them back.
