SideWindow: use that Windows Mobile device as an auxiliary PC display
Jon Westfall of Pocket PC Thoughts has an intriguing review of Innobec’s SideWindow product for Windows Mobile devices. Essentially, you can utilize your handheld as a secondary monitor for your Windows desktop; it’s not quite Windows SideShow technology but it’s a slick way to get a wee bit more screen real estate. While you won’t gain the kind of productivity you would with an extra full-sized monitor, I could see this useful for apps that have a relatively small footprint like a VoIP client, digital audio player, or a chat application. For $15, it could be a nice addition if you need just a tad more screen. Be forwarned though: the application doesn’t list Windows Mobile 5 as officially supported even though it generally worked for Jon.

I tried the ZoneScreen on my XP operating system with my Pharos GPS525 on ActiveSync 4.2 and it works! It’s an excellent Geek idea, but I don’t really have any practical use for it. Still, I NEED to keep the software loaded, just in case… Thanks, Lorie!

For a professionnel video maker with a Notebook and a station with 2 monitors, you can use the notebook as a third place for special floating pallet. Idem for a photograph with a station with one monitor using now his Notebook for a better use of Photoshop or Gimp. Or for have a second, or third application on the whole new available screen. Ordinary there is no VGA entry on a Notebook !
You can access the second or third virtual screen with Graphic Display settings. Look at this pic :
