Dell adds solid state disks to the D420 and D620
Dell has announced a solid state disk option for their Latitude D420 and D620 notebooks according to Akihabaranews. The 32 GB SSDs aren’t the biggest capacity flash drives out there but it’s great seeing a major notebook maker offering these drives. SSDs provide faster performance and better battery life due to the removal of the spinning hard drive and as the cost of the SSDs drops we will start seeing these appear in more mobile PCs and at larger capacities. Maybe this will be an option on that rumored Tablet PC?
I see the 32GB SSD is for sale on the Dell site for user installs for about $550. It’s 1.8″ and has a PATA/SATA interface… does anyone know if I can shove this into my Fusitu p1610?… it uses a Toshiba female ATA-3 interface… don’t know if this is the same or not
