OQO Model 02 with HSDPA for do-it-yerselfers

Oqo_hsdpaTake a good close look at that picture to the right. You probably recognize the Cingular SIM card, but you might be wondering what device’s innards it’s attached to. Normally, the FCC would be in the know, but not this time because this is what happens when HSDPA fans buy a device equipped with EV-DO: they hack ‘em! ;) That’s exactly what you see here: Tnkgrl gave her OQO Model 02 an ‘EV-DO vasectomy’ and replaced the WWAN module with an HSDPA AirCard PCI Express Mini Card module.   • Now that is some useful stuff. I’m debating getting an OQO, but being “forced” to EV-DO was turning me off since I’d like to still have internet outside the United States.
