HP ’s new 2710P Tablet PC- looking good
I am getting a lot of email from readers wondering why we haven’t mentioned the newly announced HP 2710P Tablet PC yet. The reason is simple, there’s not a lot known about this new Tablet yet, HP has just put up the 2710 on their site. I am in conversation with HP about it as we speak. The details are very sketchy at this point but photos of the 2710 show it to be gorgeous and yes, sexy. It’s a tad heavy at the quoted weight of 3.6 lbs. but I’ll hold judgement until I get my hands on one. HP will offer both integrated EV-DO and HSDPA, giving a total choice for 3G connectivity.
Complete specs after the jump. The OS choices are extremely interesting- FreeDOS on a Tablet PC? Somehow I don’t think that would be very useful.

I’m here in Shanghai for the HP Mobility Summit and had a chance to play with the 2710p. I interviewed the product manager and posted a video of it here:

I really like the machine. It’s very thin and has a base unit and an extended battery that sandwich together on the base.
Another nice touch is the base has a rubberized finish to make sure it doesn’t slip in your hands.
The new tablet will start at $1,600.
This looks fantastic. Might be what replaces my TC1100.
That video Xavier linked to really shows off how slim and slick it is. The extended battery that snaps to the bottom is a nice feature as well.
5 hrs battery life? LED backlit display?
YUM.
The extended battery will bring total run time up to 10 hours. Would’ve been great if a third battery could snap in as an alternative of the base station.
Now this is what the LE1700 should have been, well as a slate any way… can I bear to give up a slate and carry an extra .3 lbs for that keyboard and extra hinge/plastic?
