Q1 Ultra appears on CDW
CDW appears among the first retailers to have to Q1 Ultra appear on their website. I’ve been checking several of the expected vendors daily and haven’t seen anything up to this point. A CDW search for ‘Q1 Ultra’ shows three of the planned models right now: the $799, the $1,199 and the $1,499 priced units. That equates to a good mix of choices between processor speeds of 600- or 800 MHz, hard drive sizes at 40- or 60 GB and operating systems: XP Tablet or Vista Home Premium. Availability isn’t showing as ‘in stock’ yet, but at least you now have another browser link to refresh a few times daily.

WOW! OK, this is beyond exciting. The question is, which one are _you_ going to get, Kevin?
At this point, I personally have no compelling reason to buy one. I may change my mind but I’m very happy with my Q1P running Vista. I don’t need the thumb-board as I can ink out a full URL faster. Remember that the TIP has buttons for the ‘http://’, ‘www.’, ‘.com’ and ‘.net’. All I need to do today is tap those and ink the domain which is much faster for me. The higher native screen res would be nice but it’s not a must for me. Battery life is a non-issue because I have an extended battery and standard battery. I think the Q1U is a great model, but I’m happy with my current investment. Of course, if I get a review unit for a few days, I might change my mind.
Dangit, don’t scare me like that – it’s been on cdw for days now, I’ve been checking frequently. I thought it might actually be in stock when you said that.
I’ve been hoping to get one before my vacation time in a week.
Sigh…. I wish I hadn’t done this, but I called CDW and according to the sales staff, it’s scheduled to ship to customers in — get this — JULY. That’s a little late for an anniversary edition, if you ask me! Sorry devwild, I hope my intel is wrong and that you’re able to get it next week.
