Coffee break- Cafe Soleil style
Today I decided to try a new coffee shop near my house that I’ve driven by many times but never stopped. It’s the Cafe Soleil at the corner of Louetta and Gettysburg in NW Houston. No WiFi (I heart EVDO) but what could be better than breaking like this:
The answer is breaking like this with a Tapioca coffee. Oh, get the cheesecake or I will kill you.

That looks so comfortable.
Tapioca coffee? I like both tapioca and coffee, but I’m puzzled about this combination. Is this like one of those “bubble tea”-like drinks, but with iced coffee instead? Please elaborate.
I’ll have to try it out. I get my coffee to go typically and I don’t mind breaking from Starbucks.
What I’m more puzzled by is the thinly veiled threat in the post. You will kill me if I don’t try the cheesecake? First of all, that’s really harsh, especially to people who may not like any sort of cheesecake. I have it on some authority there are quite a few of these people. Do you plan to kill them all? How do you plan to evade the law while you go on this spree?
I’m also curious if _you_ tried the cheesecake? Consider that we have no proof that you even tried it. I’ll assume you did. If so, is there something in this cheesecake to have made you so prone to violence?
Or perhaps there is something more sinister going on? The independent coffee shop business is pretty cut-throat, especially in Houston where there’s a Starbucks on every corner. It’s conceivable to me that the owner of Tapioca threatened YOU in some way.
Maybe this is a cry for help! Are you okay? Do you need help from the evil Tapioca Coffee owner? I know people who can protect you. They’re not strong or good with weaponry, but they’ll try. At the very least they can throw a pie in the face of whoever is making you so crazy.
I did in fact have the cheesecake. I wouldn’t advocate actually killing non cheesecake eaters but don’t blame me if you miss it.
Cheryl, they have Tapioca “pearls” that can be put in any drink and are quite good in both coffee and tea.
I’ll try it out. A tapioca pearl sounds interesting. I’ll let them know that I saw it on jkontherun, too!
Hello,
I am the owner of Cafe Soleil. I had NO idea that you visited my shop and posted a review about us (a very flattering review!). I just wanted to personally thank you for supporting us and other small businesses. Yes, the coffee industry is cut throat, but what other business isn’t? At least we took the plunge and took the chance of obtaining the American dream of owning your own business.
On behalf of my family and other family run businesses, thank you. The next time you visit us, please call me and I’ll buy you one of our famous Vietnamese Grilled Pork Sandwiches!
Sincerely,
TP Arnold – Owner
