Youtube_tour_de_franceThat’s it, I’m getting an iPhone tonight! See, I’m a huge Tour de France fan and we kick it tomorrow out of London (for the first time ever!). Unfortunately, I have a day trip up to the Poconos so what’s a wannabe cyclist to do? Check the Tour de France YouTube channel of course! Normally I camp out in front of the TV and lock on to OLN VS. for the month of July each year, but this time, I’ll catch missed coverage bits on YouTube. Actually, I have an DVR…hmm….and I can Sling coverage to my phone…..bummer, I still can’t justify that $600 iPhone to Barb just yet. ;)

Seriously, this is great to see since not all TdF fans have access to the few channels that cover it. Hopefully, it’s more than just some of the basics: today they have a 14 second overview of the starting stage.

  • TDF is HUGE HUGE HUGE here in Germany.
My brother-in-law is a reporter on the tour and the family goes crazy over it.
There will be non-stop TV coverage so get that passport sorted out and get over here for 2009!

  • Just tried it from my iphone and a: searching you tube for any videos returns nothing (perhaps none in h.264).

I can hit the site (www.youtube.com/letourdefrance) but can’t watch anything there either.

bummer but I still like the phone…

  • I just watched the TDF go through my town in Kent. I was amazed at how many people came out to see them for all of a few seconds as they whizzed passed. Was cool to see them in our town though and see our town on TV. Part of the route is my usual route to work.

The Pocono’s are lovely. I used to work near Stroudsburg (Bartsonville) and know the place well. Stop in at ‘Dales’ and have a coffee and panini, they are right next to the Bartsonville Post office just along from the Truck Stop and adult outlets. Have a great day.
