BlackBerry with WiFi on the horizon?
Thank goodness for the loose FCC files to keep us informed as to what’s really probably going on in the world of mobile tech. Case in point, the FCC has details of an upcoming BlackBerry that includes integrated WiFi and quad-band GSM. And you know what they say about WiFi in a phone, some people don’t care (me) and others have to have it. The rumors have this unit tagged the 8820 which will basically be like the 8830 but without the multimedia stuff. That would be a terrible waste of 802.11a/b/g.

I agree! If they are going to steal an interface, they should steal the Microsoft Surface! But then – imagine the tech support calls.
“My phone doesn’t work anymore since I set my drink on it.”
Whoops wrong thread.
The source article says the Pearl is the 8800, which it is not. The Pearl is the 8100 (and the Curve is the 8300). The 8800 and 8830 are largely the same other than CDMA. I don’t see adding WiFi (8820) changing the software offerings of that line. If anything, all of the 88×0 series will be upgraded to share the multimedia software features of the 8300.
