August 9, 2007.  Houston, TX.  Blame JK Launched just in time for back to school

Jk_icon_100pixJames Kendrick of jkOnTheRun has announced the launch of his new business venture, Blame JK.  Blame JK will be the first venture to provide a unique service for neophiliacs.  Many gadget freaks find themselves constantly in trouble with their spouse over purchases of expensive electronic toys that they don’t need.  Blame JK steps in to the rescue in this scenario.  Clients of the Blame JK service can use the online reviews, videos and other posting by JK to justify the exorbitant purchase to the spouse and thus restoring harmony in the household.  The unique $200 service also includes personal recommendations to the client via email which bolster the case for how necessary the purchase is to the spouse.

"Blame JK was conceived after numerous online articles and videos fixed the blame of expensive gadgets firmly on my back.  I constantly get email from readers who blame me for their impulse purchase and I’ve even gotten them from spouses who asked me to stop recommending products to their loved one.  The Blame JK service is unique in its personalized approach where recommendations for specific products can be used as justification for their purchase.  The deluxe package ($300) includes all of the above and adds phone calls to the spouse in question that removes all doubt the purchase was a very good one." said James Kendrick, CEO of Blame JK.

  • “Blame JK will be the first venture to provide a unique service for necrophiliacs.”

Geez, James. That’s either a doozy of a Freudian slip or a hell of a business plan.

  • Eeek. I only made a video. I don’t remember anything about necrophilia. Or did I leave the cam on too long ;-)

    Blame JK.

  • Wow. Now that’s funny! Chippy could not possibly have thought his comment would lead to this. That’s awesome.

  • Any chance you might expand this service to accepting blame for my being at the pub or out with the boys. Now THAT I would pay for!!

  • Warner, just send me all your money and you’re in.

Gordon, good idea. It’s gonna be expensive, though.

  • Now we all know gadgets become an addiction. But the Blame JK Venture puts a surcharge on the addiction. Can we at least get some sort of long term subscription discount?

  • I nominate this as the all time funniest tablet pc related post. I am a new fan of the site and will keep coming back.

  • I think a long-term subscription model is the wrong way to go with this business plan. If overused, the effectiveness of the Blame JK service decreases. In fact, with prolonged use, adverse side-effects can result. Side effects may include headaches (spouse not you), decreased libido, irritability, and prolonged exposure to outdoors. Use only as directed. Avoid drinking and other risky behavior while using Blame JK. Your mileage may vary. Void where prohibited.

  • Do you handle issue with parents too?

I need help in justifying purchases of tech toys.

  • What if she is so convinced by you, that she will want to buy one too? That would mean that I will have to double my gadget budget + I pay extra for the service. Clever, clever…

Why don’t retailers offer this service for free ;)

  • Well it’s about bloody time, I say!

    Oh wait.

    I live alone!

But I blame you anyway! It should be Blame The Two Fiends, anyway!

  • Since I was just implicated by Cane’s “Two Fiends” comment, I feel the need for full disclosure. I will not publicly comment on the new Blame JK organization from this point forward as I have stock options in the venture. [So sign up right now...don't wait, operators are standing by! And stay tuned for our alternative service coming soon: the pre-nup with full gadget purchase clauses!]

  • Great stuff! Have you thought through the legal issues if it doesn’t work? (although I am so sure it will that I am headed over to Leveno’s website right now!)

Travis Carnahan — 7:02 AM on August 10, 2007 Reply

  • Since I’m not a lawyer, I took the liberties of writing a disclosure statement for JK’s not-a-business, which should be absolutely non-binding in any legal situation. See above.
