Windows Mobile and Tablet PC tip: keyboard shortcuts
These days, we forget about the on-screen keyboard in Windows Mobile thanks to all of the devices that have physical QWERTY keyboards. If you don’t have a QWERTY on your WinMo device however, you might be tapping around the on-screen keyboard quite a bit.
I forgot about this particular function, but pocketnow reminds us that there are several desktop keyboard shortcuts that work in Windows Mobile 5 and 6. Microsoft has a listing of them, but the one I used to use the most was cut (Ctl+C) and paste (Ctl+V). Tablet PC users have the same functions with the Tablet Input Panel or the TIP as we know it. This really comes in handy with a slate Tablet or UMPC for multi-selects, cut and pastes and much more!

Ummm have known about this and used since Pocket PC 2002 on my first iPaq (H3850).
The one trick I really like on Windows Mobile and REALLY wish they included in the TIP is the ability to tap on a key and then flick your pen up to turn a lower case letter into an upper case letter without having to select shift first. This is a great time saver on Pocket PCs and would be a great improvement to the TIP.
Hey Jake, check the TIP (Keyboard) Option, by tapping on the “up” arrow, and you’ll see that you can use the gesture for “Space”, “Backspace”, “Shift+key” and “Enter”. To use this, you need to enable “Large Keys” radio button and check the “Use gestures for the following keys:” checkbox.
Thanks Kelvin, I’ll have to have a look into this.
Its too small on my screen! (Gotta invest in a new Pocket PC …sigh…)
