Sorry to hear that Raphael! This is exactly why I don’t want to provide the Apple Credit webpage with my original iPhone number that I no longer have. If they recycled that number already, someone is going to get an SMS message with my store credit credentials.

It did not work for me. I got a message “We show that this iPhone has been returned and is not eligible for the $100 Apple Store credit.”.

I assume this is related to sending back the phone for service and then receiving a new replacement phone.

Sent an email as instructed. Go a reply saying that I received a replacement phone (duh) and to try again. Tried again and got the same message

I get to my local store at 6:30PM and prepare to get my wife a new Nano. They ring up the store credit number… then tell me I only have $29 left of my $100 credit. WTF?!

They tell me to email iphonestorecredit@apple.com, since there’s nothing they can do, but Nikki the ever-so-excellent store rep presses on and calls the number to check the balance and to hopefully speak to a live person.

The person goes to inform her that the account was activated yesterday (!) and a purchase of $70 was made. We look at my iPhone and it clearly states that I received the text message this morning and that the print out happened just minutes after. Of course, she tries to explain to the individual that Apple only started to issue credits today, so it’s impossible that the account could have been opened, let alone used, yesterday.

The individual on the phone is clueless and so it’s back to email support to Apple. I ended up having to purchase my wife’s Nano without the store credit. Slick move, Apple – feels like the ol’ bait ‘n switch.

Lightly toasted by the early adopter credit, now burned by this chain of events. Here’s hoping you can turn this around, Jobs & Co.

Sorry my post ported number is referring to my sprint number which I’ve had for several years. When I opened the account I received a new number from AT&T. I used this number for almost a month then decided to switch back to my original sprint number. So the credit worked even though I ported after having an AT&T number originally.

I got my credit done in less than 5 minutes… and I had ported my number from T-Mobile. Funny thing is that I got my iPhone unlocked and am considering going back to T-Mobile… my way of “sticking it to the man”.
