Hands on with Sling & DIRECTV SuperCast. It rocks!

Remember that Sling Media news with DIRECTV’s SuperCast service we mentioned a few days ago? The folks at Sling generously let me preview the service this weekend and I have to say: it’s a mobile football-lovers dream. Other than my local market game, I’m able to watch every other game in real time using the service from wherever I have an Internet connection. The DIRECTV SuperCast service also provides access to the Red Zone Channel, which moves from game to game when a team is in the red zone. You also get real time stats and recorded clips of highlights and scoring drives. These games are available though Internet Explorer, so you’ll need a Windows PC. OK, I gotta go…almost time to sit outside and watch the 4:00 game. Or is that games?

  • ignar, it requires a DIRECTV account and a subscription to the NFL Sunday Ticket package.

  • I just tried to sign up for the DirectTV NFL Sunday Ticket with the Superfan option. Since I am not interested in any of their other programming, first I attempted to sign up ‘unbundled’ from an actual DirectTV monthly package. I stated that I was perfectly willing to pay for the NFL Sunday Ticket and Superfan packages directly without the need for a credit check. When told that this was not possible, I asked for the lowest priced ‘Family Plan’ package. Things went well until I stated that I did not need any dish or tuner equipment as I would only be using the new NFL Sunday Ticket Superfan programming on my PC. Although this would be an awkward order to process, this looked to be possible. I declined as I would still have been subject to a credit check and charges for programming I wasn’t going to use.
