The docking station has arrived

The FedEx guy just dropped off the package from HP and sure enough it contained the docking station, er, the expansion base, for the HP 2710p Tablet PC I am so impatiently patiently waiting for.  The reason for this post is to point out that unlike I’ve seen posted in some forums my expansion base did indeed include an extra A/C adapter.  I could have saved some bucks on the extra adapter I ordered because I had seem several purchasers of the dock state that theirs did not include one.  This dock contains the thinnest DVD drive I have ever seen!

  • Hi James:

I am curious to read your comments on the expansion base for the 2710. I am still on the fence between this and the X61T. I like the compact form factor of the 2710, but I am not a fan of wide screens in tablet PCs (I do too much inking in portrait mode, and I love the “regular” aspect ratio of the X61T screen). However, a second huge criterion for me is the expansion base (for both the X61T and the 2710). I typically have more than one (office and home) dockign stations in my setup, and am quite concerned about the HP’s cost ($399, even though it does include a DVD+RW).
