New 13-inch MacBook rumored to be announced at MacWorld

New_macbook_2MacBook enthusiasts have been asking for a 13-inch version of the Apple notebook and Apple Insider is now teasing them with the inside information that Apple will be announcing the littlest MacBook at MacWorld in January.  The rumor has Apple dropping the optical drive to make room for everything else in such a small form and that they will be dropping NAND flash memory in a MacBook for the first time.  This rumor may be credible as Apple needs something big (or in this case little) to drop on the MacWorld crowd and barring a v2 iPhone this would do it.

  • Thirteen inch? That’s a disappointment. I was hoping for something Eee or Foleo-sized.

I guess Jobs has an aesthetic prejudice against smaller screen size… too bad!

I’ve seen pics of that 10″ Eee. It seems like an aircraft carrier compared to the current Eee. And now this will be 13″.

    Feh!

  • Reality is that this is ’speculation/rumor’ at this point…so who knows really how accurate or not it is???

This is similar to the every 6 months or so rumor either about a new ‘Newton’ or ‘Apple TabletPC’, neither of which has shown up yet, even though it pops up as a rumor every so often for the past several years….

Which is too bad as I’d love to have a little MacBook convertible TabletPC or slate design….but doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen unfortunately….

    Oh well….

  • I can’t believe they are going with a 13 inch display. It is going to be pretty thin with an LED back light screen and no hard drive. (macbook razer?) They should balance that with a smaller screen size. Anything from 10 to 12 inches would be appropiate.

  • Not exactly a 12″ Powerbook but it has my interest.
