Evernote is a great note-taking application that is full featured and very good on a Tablet PC.  The full version of the program is available today only for free from Giveaway of the Day so you’d better get cracking if you want it free.

  • I just want to thank you guys for finding these giveaways. I know it takes a lot of RSS feed reading, but it saves us from doing that. Appreciate it.

  • Sorry to burst the bubble guys but Evernote is usually free.

Evernote Plus is the one you pay for.

Vanilla Evernote supports inking but doesn’t do HWR.

  • vm-01, I believe this is the full version of Evernote Plus 2.2, not Evernote Lite, which is free. Has anyone downloaded it to check? I already have it, so I didn’t download.

  • Technically, JK is right, they’ve done a renaming, removing the name “Evernote Plus.” Presumably, the giveaway will be the full product and remain so after the 60-day trial.

    From http://forum.evernote.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5038

“Note changes in the product naming: there is no more “EverNote Plus”. We only offer one free product for downloads, called EverNote 2.2. All features of the software are enabled in this free product for 60 days. After that, advanced features (handwriting, shape and image recognition and associated search in images and Ink Notes, as well as synchronization with removable medis) will be disabled, unless you purchase the full version to enable them permanently.”

  • It is the full version and, yes, it will not reinstall if your harddrive crashes. Still you do get it free, so there’s that. I’ve registered the software and it’s running on my both of my computers – I love it and am not at all upset that others will get a chance to go at this NEWLY UPDATED version for free … I’ve gotten my money’s worth already. Each use from here on is gravy.

But that’s not the really great news… this is:

Evernote has just released their public beta of Evernote for Smartphones and Windows Mobile (WM 5 and 6 only… no love for WM2003 :( )

This is the app that most of the mobile brigade has been yapping at Evernote for for the last couple of years. I’m downloading now. Wonder if it’ll be good enough for me to retire my e800 and start using my W-Zero3 full-time???

  • Dammit, my Tablet PC is broken right now.
Is there someway I can install it on my Desktop and transfer it to my Tablet when I get it fixed?

  • Thanks for the info. I think you’re right.

I haven’t been able to install because this computer runs Ubuntu. But I downloaded the file and it is indeed bigger than the vanilla Evernote I downloaded last time. About the same size as the Evernote Plus trial that used to be available. So it makes sense.

This is very cool news as I believe that discount you mentioned some time ago is still active. I’m waiting anxiously for a Windows Mobile version.

  • I can’t seem to get it to install. Anyone got any tips. I’ve downloaded and unzipped it and then I click setup and it goes to the giveaway website and tells you to let your friends know. Thats it, never an install for some reason.

  • Can anybody point to a comparison review of this against OneNote 2007?

I already have and use OneNote but free is free, especially if it is better.

But if it’s not better … I’ve already paid for OneNote and don’t want to see my investment go down the tubes.
