Asus Eee PC added to the gear bag listing, welcome Eeegor

3422024404Just a quick note that I’ve added the Asus Eee PC to my list of purchased and used mobile gear. I’m finding the sub-notebook to be quite flexible and I’m throughly enjoying the fact that I learn something new about Linux daily; even while being productive with the device. The size of a large paperback book, the little laptop is easy to tote around, quick to boot or wake and now has connectivity through HSDPA in a matter of moments. Of course, anyone who knows anything about computers understands that networked devices need some type of identifying name. Sure, you could try to share or mount devices on a network by their IP address, but that’s too impersonal, so…After very little thought, I’d like to introduce you to Eeegor, my Asus Eee PC. Somehow, the name just seemed appropriate since the USB modem seems like a hump sticking out. ;)

  • My wife finds the whole gadget-naming thing a bit weird. That being said I am posting this from my hp 2710 p which I lovingly call Tabby.

  • I loved this pc!
Eee PC means “”Easy to learn, Easy to work, Easy to play.”
In my opinion it’s way better then OLPC project since it has more system power.

  • Hi Kevin . . . My eee is arriving today, and you stole the name I was going to use! My (now defunct) Egor was my monster machine, starting out as an XT clone from Fry’s electronics in 1985 and was upgraded & morphed over time by upgrading this, that, and something else while always keeping something from the prior generation. (8088 to V-20 to 286 to 386-SX to 486 to P100, plus numerous memory, video, LAN, and other upgrades to (sigh) retirement in 1998.)

Now I have to come up with a whole new name!

  • Peter, unless we’re ever going to be on the same network at the same time, I say go for the name. ;)
