Google fixes IMAP issue with HTML mail for Windows Mobile
What wonderful timing as I just had an e-mail conversation with a reader about this very issue a few days ago. If you’ve been cautious about using Google’s IMAP solution for Gmail on your Windows Mobile device, you might want to take the plunge now. Most WinMo users were holding off since the October launch of Gmails IMAP, mainly because HTML e-mails were appearing blank on their device. According to InfoWorld, the issue was reportedly resolved late last week for some accounts and as of today, the bug is gone from the open issues list. To each his own, but I have to say I’ve been very happy with Google’s IMAP service for the past three months. I’m still cleaning up my Exchange folders, but once that’s done, I’ll be closing down that account. The loss of OTA contact, event, task, and note synching is either a non-issue for me or I have workarounds for functions.(via the::unwired)
Care to elaborate on your work-arounds for syncing Windows Mobile to Google Calendar and Contacts? I’m using Google Apps for Your Domain and I’d like to be able to sync the calander and contacts with my Windows Mobile phone.
Kevin, how are you syncing your calendar and contacts with your iPhone now that you have moved from Exchange to Gmail?

Imagine my surprise when I read this post today. I can confirm it is working on my Dash. I did however have to delete and set up my accounts again. Not sure if thats normal
To those who posted above me, I’ve successfully used GooSync. I’m just using the free version, so no contacts and I can only sync a month ahead or so.

Ironically, just today I was planning to thank both of you* for writing about hosted Exchange, because I just made the switch from IMAP and regret waiting as long as I did. The thank you still stands, of course. You wrote very clearly about who hosted Exchange would make sense for and why, and I fit the profile. The comments of your readers were helpful as well, leading me to choose SherWeb (I use Sharepoint extensively in my business, and they offer a great deal).
It’s been less than a week, but OTA syncing and push e-mail are already a revelation. I disabled the alarms for incoming messages (I don’t equate being a slave to e-mail with being effective), but I love seeing it all there when I do look.
More than any other Outlook feature, I am a heavy duty Contacts user, including categories, filing people by Company/Name, and the extra fields. The ease of synchronization between all my devices alone is worth the monthly fee (I’m amazed that people can tolerate the weak address book feature in most mail applications, including GMail).

oh, and Rob… I agree Completely about Exchange. I depend too much on live updates to calendar and contacts to (productively) use anything else.

Most of time, I can easily tell whether J or K wrote the article by the writing style. It gets even easier when J tries an ink blogging.
