jkOnTheRun review- ezSkin slimline for iPhone
The folks at ezGear offered up the opportunity to review one of their ezSkin slimline cases for the iPhone, so I’ve got a short video review to show it off. For $29.99, it’s not a bad deal for the thin protective case plus belt holster for your iPhone. I like the partnership between ezGear and the invisibleSHIELD folks because there’s an included invisibleSHIELD for the front face of your device. While all of the cutouts provide access to your iPhone controls, the controls don’t extend beyond the case cutouts. Some folks might find this an issue but I suspect it’s more a matter of getting used to having a case on the phone.

isn’t there a light sensor where the cutout above the speaker? Does the iphone fit in the belt clip without the ez skin? And can you put the iphone face-in on the iphone? Just some thoughts!
Is that top cutout for the *earphone* maybe? How else could you hear someone calling you? Surely the speaker isn’t doing in and out!
Good review. I’d wondered about getting something like that when I get an iPhone. Now I won’t. I don’t like the idea of the side controls being nearly flush and the too-tight fit in the dock.
Plus, I would probably keep it in my shirt pocket and the rubber material would probably “stick” to my shirt cloth.
How’s that shield work out for you, though? Lots of fingerprints on it! Did it interfere with the touch sensitivity of the screen at all? Explain a bit more about that spray. It was confusing. I’m used to wrestling with WriteRights (are they still even made?).
Duh. Sorry., don’t know what I was thinking in that third sentence. Earphone is a speaker. Damned aneurysm of mine… Maybe there are two (he asked, trying desperately to save his drowning self!)?
Generally speaking, I’m not a fan of cases. I figure the exterior of the device IS the case/protection. Having said that, anyone found a slim thingamabob with a stand to prop up the iPhone on an airplane tray table when watching video?
The top cutout if for the light sensor in the Iphone.
@ dave, I use this case.

nice for on the plane.
Good review. you should integrate these into a new overarching jkontherun podcast feed, including MOTR, etc…
Nice review, I might just pick one up.
The cutout is for the proximity sensor and light sensor, take a look at your iPhone in bright sunlight, you will see the sensors.
If you are looking for something to use with your iPhone or iPod on the plane, EzGear the company that makes the EzSkin the Kevin demoed also makes leather cases that you can use to stand up your iPod or iPhone. Check them out at ezgear.com
Answer to all of the questions follow, but first, a big thanks as to explaining why there’s a second cutout on the skin!
Doug: you can put the iPhone in the holster case but it’s a a bit small and “jiggles” a little bit. Clearly, the holster is made to work with the ezSkin on the iPhone. Yes, you can put the iPhone in the holster with the screen facing in.
Mike: the invisibleSHIELD works great. It’s a see-through skin that adheres to the device and VERY durable. You need the spray so that you can properly align the skin. If you didn’t use it, the skin would adhere too quickly. Less fingerprints with the skin than native glass.
