HP UMPC- is it coming?

Crave has posted something that I believe will be true that HP is readying a UMPC lifestyle device for release later this year.  According to what Crave was told the HP UMPC will be cheap enough that buying one will require no thought and it will have good battery life.  I am trying to get some real information from HP to share with you, we’ll see what info they parcel out to me.  I haven’t been told anything concrete by HP but let’s just say I think Crave may be onto something here.  If HP enters the UMPC market it will be a game changer I can assure you.

  • James,
Since your reports on the HTC Advantage spurred me into purchasing one I’ll address this to you. Have you been able to get the HTC Home Plug-In to work on the Advantage without portions being compressed? Also, am I seeing a fully functional HTC Home Plug-In on the photos of the new Advantage 7510? Just wondering if they tweaked the new machine. BTW, I really enjoy your site. Here’s wishing you and Kevin the best.

  • Dr. Kehr, I have been using the HTC Home Plugin on my Advantage from day one and it’s worked fine on mine. What problems are you having?

  • it’s not going to be a UMPC exactly, although close. it’s going to be a competitor to the EEE PC.

  • I wouldn’t hold my breath. If they do half as good a job with this as they did with the last round of iPAQ devices, we will be pining away for this in about a year’s time at an overseas location.
