Pearl Izumi cycling bib with integrated MP3 player

PhpthumbphpWith so many videos of me wearing a Discovery Pro Cycling team hat or jersey, it’s probably no surprise that I enjoy cycling. My road bike is actually right next to me on a trainer to work out and work simultaneously. One piece of cycling I gear I don’t have is this $500 set of Pearl Izumi Bib Shorts to ride on the bike. Not because I’m afraid of people knowing I wear a bib (insert baby bib joke here), but due to the price. What do you get for half-a-grand? I know Pearl Izumi makes a high quality product, but the value-add here is an embedded flash MP3 player right in the bib that holds 16 hours worth of music. The player, the controls and headphone jack are all integrated into the garment. I just hope anyone who buys this is left handed as the controls are on the left leg. Personal safety note: please don’t bike and listen to tunes. I only do so on the trainer in the office.(via Gizmo Watch)

  • Only when cycling or eating lobster. And since seeing me in a cycling bib would probably cause half of our readership to leave us for good, I’ll probably refrain from such action. Of course, if anyone ever does a “Tech Geeks of the Year” calendar, all bets are off. ;)
