SanDisk simplifies mobile backups with ExpressCard adapter

SanDisk has a few press releases coming out CeBIT today including this one about a $30 backup device. It’s an ExpressCard adapter that hides away in your notebook; you won’t see anything protruding when it’s fully inserted. You then pop an SD or SDHC memory card into it and using the included Windows software, specify what files, folders or file types are most critical to you. The software and the adapter then automatically backup those objects in practical real-time, whenever they change. The idea is to offer you a full backup copy of those files in case your notebook crashes.There’s no scheduling involved, which is nice, but for folks that use their ExpressCard slot for WWAN connectivity or other uses, this has limited value. I wouldn’t mind seeing SanDisk sell the software solution for devices with integrated SD card readers as I like the idea. I just don’t know that I’d want to tie up an ExpressCard slot for backup purposes 100% of the time. Thanks for the tip, Alan!
