The Fujitsu P1620 is “not fair”
I have been happily using the Fuji every day to attend meetings and take notes in OneNote and it has worked well. I sit down at each meeting, pull the P1620 out of the case and get busy capturing my notes in OneNote. At the end of each meeting so far one or two attendees have come over to see that "Star Trek" device and I show them the Fujitsu and how I take notes in ink. Today one of the guys got this amazed look on his face when I was showing off the Fuji and said that "it’s not fair" that everyone can’t use one in their work. I looked at him and told him the same thing I’ve been telling my kids for years- "who ever said life is fair?".

Good story. I get the same thing when folks watch me taking notes and they are sitting there with paper. Shoot I even use the tablet for sign ins at events. Why give folks a paper to sign? I’m in the health care area and also did some training for Intel in the recent past, and you bet I had an electronic sign in sheet on the tablet for all who attended from major electronics chains. In order to generate interest and for folks to see the value, I have to be a “walking, eating” and “functioning” tablet user, otherwise my credibility could slip to that of a “used car salesman” quickly. I enjoy your articles and when they have a medical reference, I include links from my blog, the “Medical Quack”.
Glad I am not the only one out there with a tablet that is considered “unfair”…but if more folks got on the bandwagon, it wouldn’t be that way!
Cheers!
Aaargh. I’m saving for a P1620 and mostly loved the post, but that common parental saying kinda grated. I’ve too often seen it used by authority figures as a cop-out. What those people have meant was, “I don’t feel like trying to be equitable.” Everyone should be striving toward making life fair, even though it never will be.
In this case, though, it’s funny. I like to imagine that the recipient of the rejoinder had used it once or twice! Besides, the richest man in the world couldn’t even this one up.
No, I don’t have children; my life would be significantly less fair, if I did!
Now, what’s NOT fair is that I might be done saving in late November or early December. 15 months ago, I was checking out the P1610, so I can see myself hearing about the P1620’s successor right after I place my order.
Amen, brother James!….
When I’m using my Fugitsu U810 I get pretty much the same response; people around tend to look at the U810 and ask, “is that a computer” then like James, I do a short little demo using the U810. When I have it in tablet mode and then flip the screen back to show the keyboard, most everyone is surprized that it has a keyboard. James how’s the battery life on the P1620?
Patronizing and smug in one statement – I admit, that takes some doing
Is it fair to you that it took so many years of trial and error, and money, and waiting to get you to the Fujitsu(or any computing device)that works for you? He just fails to see the price you paid.
