Fujitsu ScanSnap 300: portable scanner runs off USB
Typically, if I need something scanned, I just snap a picture using OneNote Mobile or I e-mail the image to Scanr. Sometimes those methods leave a bit to be desired in the quality department due to my phone’s camera, which is why the Fujitsu ScanSnap 300 looks appealing for folks on the go needing a higher-quality solution. Notebooks.com has a nice review of the $299 ScanSnap 300 and generally speaking the device looks good if you can bear the tad-over-three-pound weight. Optical resolution maxes out at 600 x 600 dpi, which should be adequate for a mobile scanner. Speeds in color at that res top out at a page per minute, but if you drop down to black & white at 300 dpi, you’ll scan along at 8 pages per minute. There’s a built in document feeder that handles up to 10 pages and if you won’t want lug the AC adapter around, you can run the ScanSnap off of USB power.

Awesome! I didn’t know Fujitsu had a portable document scanner. I have the scansnap 500 which I LOVE. I’m a pretty lazy student, so I always scan my friend’s notes. This would be even more convenient cuz I could just scan immediately after class!
I have been using a Neat Receipts Scanner for about 4 months now and like it alot. Got it for 230.00 at Staples but I have seen them as low as 169. It will scan to .jpg and also runs off USB. It does not have a document feeder though. For a 8 1/2 wide paper it does fine. It can be a bit fickle for photographs, you have to help it a bit. I love scanning papers at meetings and then handing them back to the presider or throwing them away. People are amazed.
