Is this ‘fixed’ to read higher than the actual weight like airport scales seem to be? Either that or the wife has ‘fixed’ the bathroom scales to read lower.

Good point. I like this small scale because it can travel along and I haven’t yet stayed in a hotel with a bathroom scale. I tend to bring back more than I brought with me on trips.

Or you could save $25 and just use your bathroom scale. We always do that and it’s worked great so far.
