  • You managed to do both :)

    You wrote it on paper (dead tree) and then scanned it (electricity for scanner) in to your computer (more electricity) to post it to your web hosting company (even more electricity)…

  • Paper is greener – it comes from a renewable resource. Sure there are renewable electrical resources as well, but they are better used at displacing carbon-based electrical generation.

    Another question: where is the wisdom in replacing paper towels in public bathrooms with those electrical hand blowers/dryers?

  • The answer isn’t simple. It takes energy to make, market and distribute paper. There are harsh chemicals involved in the paper production process, also. Digital isn’t all bad if you buy or generate electricity from renewable resources, but there are other factors to consider.

    Remember the motto reduce-reuse-recyle? Many people think about recycling, but the best form of conservation is to reduce demand.
