Coffee break- EVDO is back, baby!
The replacement v740 modem arrived half an hour ago from Verizon and I wasted no time in getting my caffeine-less butt to the local coffee house. High-speed EVDO Rev A is back, baby:

Hooray for EVDO Rev. A!!
James,
Do you know how the speeds that you get using Rev A compare with what you would get using WiFi offered by the coffee house?
Thanks
I can tell your caffeine level is too low. You didn’t even mention WHAT you were using the modem with. The HTC Advantage? The Lenovo U110? Or was it with something you knew wouldn’t taunt me, like the hp Mini or the Fuji?
Shawn, just logged on to the T-Mobile hotspot and ran the same Speedtest: 1451/ 654. Not too shabby for EVDO, eh?
Mike, I am feeling so good about having my EVDO back that I deliberately refrained from tormenting you, but no slack for me. I am using the sexy Lenovo U110 that is so thin, so light, and so fast to be almost unbelievable! It’s so good that the HTC Advantage is just sitting lonely in my gear bag. BTW, I just read your editorial about the videogame author- very well reasoned and well written.
Sorry, don’t have the Cane article link handy. Mike can you post it here?
Thank you James for doing that, it is nice to know. Yes, your Rev A speed is excellent. I have been under the impression that WiFi is normally superior.
You mean this one?

Yeah, the lack of business sense of my fellow writers is really, really irking me. I mean, geez, I’m beginning to feel like a Suit by comparison!
Damn you, Kendrick!! J&R hasn’t gotten the U110 in yet (or maybe they did, and they sold all including the demo model, just like that first ship of EeePC last year…). My fingers haven’t fondled it yet!!
When is the US gonna get some of that 7mbps download stuff?
hmmm… in my world mobile data modem is build in and speed is around 3 mbit
I’m sitting here in a hotel room in Bethesda, MD using my Sprint Aircard 595U and just got 1533/615 using speedtest.net.
I have Verizon DSL at home in New Jersey and I typically find that EVDO in Washington, DC area gives me a faster connection than I get at home.
