Fujitsu notebooks getting wireless USB later this year

WirelessusblogoWishing you could free your notebook from its wired USB connections? If you plan to buy a Fujitsu later this year, you might get your wish. Realtek announced that they’ll be supplying a key component that will bring wireless USB capabilities to Fujitsu notebooks before the end of this year. The ultra-wideband tech should alleviate the some worry about how many USB ports a PC has since you can theoretically connect up to 127 wireless devices to a single host. We’ll still need wired USB ports for a long time to come, (especially with the prices of UWB products) but I suspect we’ll see plenty of wireless USB peripherials at CES come January, 2009. Anyone think we’ll see a P1630 with this tech before year’s end?

I don’t understand why Apple did not include this in the MacBook Air. I think the MacBook Air should have been completely wireless, including the following wireless technologies:
    - WiFi
    - Wireless USB (including Wireless USB VGA/DVI monitor connnector)
    - Wireless power/battery charging
    - 3G wireless data

Now that is a product that I would buy. A completely wireless notebook. Never deal with another cable again!

This is interesting – I had a Cantonese friend call up Fujitsu HK and the salesman confirmed there will be a P1620 with 3G – after 6 months of nothingness, I wrote to Fujitsu Australia and here is the reply:

“For the Asia Pacific region, the P1620 with 3G was not released to the
    market

However there is a replacement due in the next 2-3 months, and this will
have built in 3.5G with some enhanced model features such as webcamera etc

The new model name has not been confirmed yet, but most likely will be
    called a P1630.”

I hope this time the Aussie salesman is not pulling my leg again. The P1620 really only needs a webcam + 3.5G and its sweet. Plus if really necessary – a 64GB/128GB SSD.
