EvernotebetalogoShort update before I drop offline to eat and prep for our weekly podcast: the Evernote folks have made some changes based on user feedback. After all, isn’t that what a beta is for? Among the updated functions:

- PDF support
- Encryption on Mac and Windows
- Drag-n-drop in Evernote Web
- New blog/Facebook widget for easy sharing of public notebooks
- Flock browser extension
- Faster synchronization

PDF support seems to be on many people’s minds this week as Google just announced some support for Adobe PDFs as well. I have to dig into the details of that one before saying more. Regardless, this list looks like it will make a good thing even better and I’ll have to jump over to my Evernote Notebooks to try the new features.

  • @kevin-i’m running 3.0.0.594 and i checked for updates and there’s nothing newer. i checked the evernote blog, and i couldn’t find any mention of the pdf support. i saw the drag & drop from the web client, but i would really like pdf support.

  • VictorE, I’ll have to look into it. I received an e-mail with the info from the Evernote team. Of course, since I’m on a web-only kick, it may take me a while to check the PDF function in the client. ;)

  • This isn’t enough for me to switch from OneNote. Only problem w/OneNote is no ink for pocketPC version.

I don’t like web-based model of Evernote for PPC and their Windows client MUST have ability to move scrollbars as OneNote allows.

People have been requesting lefty support from Evernote for ages…they won’t do what would be a weekend bug fix.

  • Hi Mike, I’ve been absolutely *loving* the Evernote Beta, and it’s become my notebook of choice, along with the filofax.

The PDF support means I’m now using it as a paperless office – I’ve described it in my blog here http://monkeymemoirs.com/tag/paperless-office/

Unfortunately it only works well in the Evernote Mac version, where it just “appears” – in the Windows version you have to “open” the PDF. But, yeh, Evernote is getting better with every release.
